Italy - Puglia
This is a series of watercolours from a
painting holiday near Ostuni right on the heel of Italy. You may
recognise some scenes as this particular holiday at Il Collegio, was
featured on tv's Grand Designs Abroad. This is a particularly unspoilt
part of Italy, where vast groves of ancient and gnarled olive trees
reach down to the sea. The olives used to be stored in underground
caverns where workers had to live until the work was completed. To
ensure the safety of the olive harvest, sentry posts were set up to
guard the precious crop. Enzo lives and farms next to Il Collegio using
methods handed down through generations.
